Who are we?
We are just like you!
We are professionals. We are workers in the trades. We are stay at home moms. We are in sales. We are retired. We are college students. We are native Montana folks and folks from away who are glad to now call Montana home. We are folks with lots of children, and we take seriously helping these young ones grow in their knowledge of the gospel. We are without children. We are single 20-somethings. We are long-time believers in Jesus. We are new believers in Jesus. We are folks who have not quite yet figured out who Jesus is, at least in what it means to us. In other words,
we are very much like you.
What else defines us?
We are community dedicated to asking and addressing the hard questions of life and faith. We don't believe you have to check your brain at the door to be a follower of Jesus. We believe God should be worshipped "in spirit and in truth." (John 4:24) This is a place (one of the few left in our divided culture) where you can talk civilly about truth, culture, art, economics, and politics within the framework of trying to understand and apply the scriptures to the problems of our day. We recognize that this might make us different from some churches and groups. Overall, we are marked by reliance on the gospel and learning more each day what it means to walk with God by faith.
We are a new church that values and constantly works to bring about authentic community. We want Christ Community to be a place where real conversations can happen, where we can know others and be known without all the judgment and being looked down upon. We believe the gospel promotes such a community. The gospel undercuts human pride, provides a basis for humble listening, and offers a basis for forgiveness instead of grudges. We know that misunderstandings always happen where humans are involved, but faith in the gospel of Jesus provides tools and power for getting past these misunderstandings.
We are a new church that is dedicated to empowering ministry and cutting down on bureaucratic busyness of "church life." We want to empower and equip individuals and families for ministry in the real world. While we emphasize discipleship, we don't do so to make everyone busy with church work. We do so to provide tools for life and ministry. We believe the Kingdom of God and the Church grows as individuals do ministry. As a church, we believe that as God burdens individuals and groups with a need, it is their responsibility to meet that need. We want to help you do it! As a result, we are very open to endorsing a great variety of new ministries and empowering folks like you to do what God lays upon your heart. We also promise that we won't become a community dedicated to "meetings."
So who are we?
